The perks of pom pom bombing...

Nothing brightens up a winter's day or a tree without leaves like a pom pom right? So I pom pom bombed the tree outside the front of my house. It's a work in progress but I think it already brightens up the street. The little pom poms dance in the breeze and seem to smile whenever you walk by.

Even the name pom pom makes me smile. The gorgeous array of colours look like blurs of light.

So, I'm of the opinion that there can never be too many pom poms. You can put them on anything and anywhere. The humble pom pom can never do any harm.

I'm sure many of you have made countless pom poms at some point. But your skills could be slightly rusty so here are some simple instructions so you can get your pom pom bombing on!

YOU WILL NEED:
-scissors
-coloured wool (preferably gorgeous colours)
-cardboard
-needle to make everything slightly easier

STEP 1:
Cut out two cardboard circles (you choose the size - big or small) and then cut out a smaller circle in the middle of the circle. Secure the end of a piece of wool to the cardboard with a knot. Begin to wrap the wool around your circle through the middle and pull tightly. Continue until your circle is full.I find that threading the wool through a needle helps to make the process faster.

STEP 2:
Once full, cut between the two pieces of cardboard. This part is rather fiddly. Use sharp scissors that will be sure to cut through wool and cardboard.

STEP 3:
After cutting through the wool and separating the cardboard, cut another piece of wool to tie in between the card. Tie firmly and leave one end long so you can tie the pom pom onto something.

STEP 4:
Remove cardboard from the pom pom by cutting.

STEP 5:
Trim unwanted wool and your pom pom is done!

Now it's time to prance around the room and bask in your glory. Well done! All that's left to do is to tie it to your favourite tree and make some more. Happy pom pom bombing.
